Gorgeous shot! I wonder, though, in all these travels–does it get monotonous? You know, arrive in new town/village, board another rickety bus for another 6 hour ride to the mountains, more hiking past more ancient statues. Does it eventually feel that you’ve “done it”? Or is it consistently fresh and surprising?
Funny, but good question. Certainly parts of the journey gets tiring at times, but not in those ways. The sights do always seem to be new and surprising. When I am able to “zoom out” and get perspective, I realize how lucky and blessed I am (actually, that’s B.S. – it was just several years of saving money – anyone can do it) to be on this journey, and if I’m not happy (which is more often than you might think), then it’s up to me to fix that. It sounds silly, but I always forget that I have the power to change my emotions and thereby relate differently to my surroundings. What I might perceive as grumpy people one day sometimes magically transform the next day into regular folks – simply because I’m in a better mood.
